Civil Rights in Chicago Today

March 16, 2016 @ 6:00 pm

The Newberry welcomes three of Chicago’s most innovative young activists for a panel discussion on racial inequality in Chicago and the prospects for change in the future. The panelists include Ja’Mal Green (activist and entertainer), Veronica Morris Moore (youth organizer with Fearless Leading by the Youth), and Aisha Truss-Miller (community organizer with Metropolitan Tenants Organization). Moderated by Troy LaRaviere, principal of Blaine Elementary School and an advocate for social justice in education, the dialogue will grapple with questions of how to translate the energy of protest movements into enduring solutions.
