Instituto Cervantes – 7 p.m.
“Apalabrar” is a show that celebrates the best Hispanic poetry of all times by showcasing works that range from the medieval Spain to the contemporary Latin American literature. Some of the authors that will be presented are: Calderón de la Barca, Góngora, Garcilaso de la Vega, Manrique, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Rubén Darío, José Martí, García Lorca, Borges, Pablo Neruda, Julio Cortázar and Mario Benedetti. This production is presented by the Latino Music Festival in collaboration with Aguijón Theater. The music itself will be performed by Volcano Radar, a fusion of ecstatic improvisational energy and Apollonian intellect. A power quartet with dual free jazz/noise/avant guitarists Elbio Barilari and Julia A. Miller, legendary bassist Harrison Bankhead and incendiary drummer Avreeayl Ra, Volcano Radar moves fluently through a stylistic range from noise-funk improvisation to structured sonic forms.
