Venancio (Guadalupe) was a strong, brave man who came to the US to better support his family who had to stay in Mexico. His life was cut short on the 16th of Septemeber, by a fire which began in the garage in which he was residing. The fire was one of seven that night which left multiple families displaced. I would like to see the community come together to pay respects to one of our very own. The Candlelight Vigil was suggested on one of the Pilsen pages and a lot of people feel it will be a great way to show unity and respect to one of our fallen brothers.
We would like to start near the Harrison Park field house (7-830pm) and walk to where Venancio resided on the 2100 block of West 21st St. (830-9pm) to leave flowers community members might bring. Please bring white Candles to walk with. We encourage neighbors and friends of Venancio (Guadalupe) to contact us to speak. Community leaders and organizations please help us spread the word and please join us in our effort to create a more unitified barrio.
This has been a last minute event but I have faith that our community will rally around one another to prevail. If any church members want to say a prayer please contact us.
