Come join amfm in our first Chicago event during Pilsen’s monthly Second Friday Art Walk!
One of the most fundamental needs we have in life is our sense of identity. How we define ourselves. As Descartes said, ‘I think, therefore I am.’ Our identity composes us of who we are as humans – personality, struggles, race, gender, sexuality. “Can I See Your ID?” is someone asking “Who are you?”
Artists will present their true identities to the world, exposing societal labels, daily struggles, talents, aspirations, and more. Society often likes to boil us down to small aspects of individual pieces of ourselves.
amfm will break these categorizing barriers by asking for pieces to represent the IDs of the following artists:
Madhuri Manna Shukla
If someone were to ask if they could see your ID what would you want to show? What do you want people to see, or how do you think people will perceive you based upon what you “tell” or “show” them in showing them your ID? Can I See Your ID in a way is someone asking you who you are, how you either show yourself to the world, who you wish to be, or who the world sees you as.
amfm is a web magazine for the arts, music, and fashion currently based out of chicago, illinois. amfm seeks to promote established and up and coming artists and creatives in the arts, music and fashion spheres through the form of a q&a. each interview is like a conversation taking place entirely through the writtten word. all of the responses come directly from the artists in their own words, and in their own voices.
