Black Ensemble Theater Grand Opening Celebration

Make history with The Black Ensemble Theater as they unveil their new home in Uptown, The Black Ensemble Theater and Cultural Center, over the weekend of November 18-20, 2011. Grand Opening Weekend festivities kick off Friday with a special ceremony hosted by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, followed by a preview performance of The Black Ensemble Theater’s hit musical production of The Jackie Wilson Story.

The celebration continues with an open house at the new Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, with its 300 seat main stage theater, 150 seat experimental stage, as well as rehearsal spaces, dance studios, and other state of the art amenities. A second preview performance of The Jackie Wilson Story takes place Saturday night.

Sunday’s events include brunch specials at nearby neighborhood restaurants celebrating this important milestone for The Black Ensemble Theater, and the official opening of The Jackie Wilson Story, which runs through January 8, 2012 and kicks off the Theater’s 2011-12 “Legendary Season of Rhythm & Blues”.

Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center Open House, 10 am – 2 pm
Preview performance of The Jackie Wilson Story at 8 pm;

Brunch specials for Black Ensemble Theater patrons at Uptown and Andersonville restaurants;
First Sunday Matinee of The Jackie Wilson Story at 3 pm.
