Big Walls Artist Confab and Reception

May 5, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

On Thursday, May 5, 2016, Columbia College Chicago and Wabash Arts Corridor will hold a street style panel discussion and reception for their first ever WAC Big Walls Festival. The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at Columbia’s Conaway Center, 1104 S. Wabash. The free event entitled, “Big Walls in a Big City: Imagining the Future of Public and Street Art to Shape our Urban Landscape” and is open to the public.

Bad at Sports Podcast Producer, Duncan MacKenzie, and curator, Neysa Page-Lieberman, will moderate the discussion. Guest panelists include: Chicago artist Ruben Aguirre, Dutch artist Collin van der Sluijs, artist and writer Philip Hartigan, Columbia professor and artist Sabina Ott, Masters of Arts Management student Anisa Peraica, and Chicago-based artist Amanda Williams.

The panel discussion will be fun and fast-paced with a focus on the future of street art and how it is transforming Chicago’s urban landscape. This won’t be your typical panel forum! A student performer will be keeping the pace for the panel forum with the use of a ceremonial gong!

Music and entertainment will be provided by Columbia College alumnus DJ Jill Strange and a special Cinco de Mayo break dance performance by the Windy City B-Boys!
