Presented in collaboration with Chicago’s burlesque festival Superstars of Burlesque, BEHIND THE BURLY Q is a revealing history of that uniquely American art form that once encompassed comics, chorus girls, musicians, and of course, the lovely ladies who dared to bare it all.
Tassles twirl up a tempest (those endowments are 100% old-fashioned real, folks), as vintage clips of the greats, including Blaze Starr, Dixie Evans, Sally Rand, Sherry Britton, Tempest Storm and many more, bring home the timeless appeal of striptease. A score of stars, most still vital and lovely well into their eighties, tell their own stories of tragedy and triumph, and interviews include actor Alan Alda, who grew up backstage on the Burly-Q circuit, where his dad Robert was a “tit singer.” DigiBeta video.
