If you want to publish your fiction or non-fiction, a query letter is your first approach to an agent — and will determine if she requests your manuscript or not. Join for a conversation with Literary Agent Joanna MacKenzie to learn the dos and don’ts of crafting a professional, attention-grabbing query letter.

We’ll discuss:

What a query letter is
Why you need one
How to write an effective query
What an agent sees when they read your letter
The hour-long discussion will be followed by a Q + A.

About Your Guides

Joanna MacKenzie

Joanna is a Literary Agent with Browne & Miller Literary Associates. She has successfully placed all types of projects, but her passion lies in commercial fiction. She enjoys working with writers who embrace the full creative process. She has helped shape many client manuscripts into books that have gone on to become bestsellers. She also manages the foreign rights for numerous agency properties. Joanna holds a MA in Film Theory & Criticism from the University of Chicago, and a BFA in Drama from the University of Calgary, Canada. She has represented When You Give A Duke A Diamond by Shana Galen, The Opposite of Hallelujah by Anna Jarzab, and Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons.
