Gozamos and Nacional Records are thrilled to present a listening party to preview Ana Tijoux’s New Album ‘Vengo’ to be released March 18th. As if that wasn’t enough, music and dancing by special guest DJ Itzi Nallah of CumbiaSazo, The Ponderers and visuals by Giroscopio. Cash Bar will be available.
‘Vengo’ is the follow-up to Ana Tijoux’s Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated sophomore album ‘La Bala,’ which was widely celebrated by critics as one of the best albums of the year. Ana Tijoux will perform this year at SXSW, with three additional upcoming shows in California: March 19th in San Francisco, March 21st in Los Angeles and March 23rd in San Diego.
Ana Tijoux has toured the U.S. and Europe extensively, performing at Central Park Summerstage, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot, and Lollapalooza. During GRAMMY weekend in 2011, Ana Tijoux performed ‘1977’ with The Roots as her backing band.
Tijoux was born in France to a French mother and a Chilean father in political exile during Pinochet’s dictatorship. After the return to democracy, the family moved to Chile. She found a home in the emerging hip-hop scene of Santiago and first started rhyming in French, then later in Spanish. It was her collaboration with Mexican pop rock star Julieta Venegas on the track, “Eres Para Mi,” which helped expose Tijoux to a mainstream audience, after the song became a TV and radio smash hit across Latin America and the U.S.
