George Balanchine’s dramatic Stravinsky Violin Concerto, remembers his friend Igor with dance set to music echoing his native Tbilisi. Jerome Robbins’ The Concert (or, the Perils of Everybody) is full-on comic genius as the dancers explore an audience’s fantasies at a Chopin piano recital – and more than a little social commentary.
Christopher Wheeldon’s work, After the Rain, with three duets to music by Arvo Pärt is stark, simple, spiritual and – above all – sensual. This is the program where the stars come out.
All performances take place at The Auditorium Theatre.
Performances will feature live orchestral accompaniment performed by the Chicago Sinfonietta.
