A Musical Geography of Mexico (Chicago-UIC)

April 27, 2016 @ 7:30 pm

QUIZ: Where are Tapatíos, Jarochos, Regios, Chilangos, and Calentanos from?

Sones de México Ensemble performs a free lecture demo and music performance entitled “Beyond the Music: A Musical Geography of Mexico”.

Experience a guided tour through Mexico’s folk music regions with live demonstrations by the Ensemble. Find out everything you ever wanted to know about Mexico’s regional folk culture and music (but were afraid to ask).

Sones de México Ensemble will perform a one-hour bilingual presentation featuring different regional styles of Mexican folk music using a variety of authentic instruments from as many as 12 different regions of the country.

Our very special guest on this performance is Sones de México co-founder Raul Fernandez!

ADMISSION IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
