MAKE is a biannual publication not only showcasing established and emerging talent, but also creating a lasting document of the current writing landscape. It is a literary, artistic object in pursuit of a thematic vision, not just a collection of literary fragments and images. Each issue is themed to be relevant to the events that have most recently shaped how we as Chicagoans and global citizens live, work, play, and think.
The event will begin with a few short readings from the issue’s contributors, followed by a question and answer session (approx 40 minutes) with Tim Samuelson. Comedian and history buff Adam Burke will host the event. For the Q & A, MAKE will have solicited questions about Chicago history (architectural in particular) from the public, using e-mail and social media. Adam will ask these questions, as well as those from the audience. There will be “historical figures” interspersed in the audience who will also ask questions. Music from Like Pioneers and Soft Speaker will follow and amaze.
