After debuting her new album, “Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun,” to rave reviews – including being named Artist of the Month by Austin’s American-Statesman – singer-songwriter Lisa Morales is joining Los Lonely Boys on a national tour which comes through Chicago this weekend, performing at City Winery Chicago! Tickets for both shows – as of the publication of this note – are both SOLD OUT. Congratulations to both! But, you can still add your name to the wait list here.
“Luna Negra and the Daughter of the Sun,” is a poetic journey of discovery into a world where an amalgam of sounds has no barriers. Released on Morales’ label Zaino Records, the 11-track album abounds with heartfelt lyricism and Latin music sophistication. It boldy wanders through the twang of American country, into the lush folds of a romantic flamenco-inspired bolero, with gems in between that can be best described as New Latin alternative.
The album was produced by Michael Ramos (who also adds a dash of his accordion to the mix) and features musicians like guitarist Charlie Sexton, David Garza, Cougar Estrada of Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys Jojo Garza, David Pulkingham and Adrian Quesada. On vocals, the album features Eliza Gilkyson and Jimmy LaFave joins her on the song, “Avalanche.”
As mentioned above, both shows happening this weekend in Chicago are sold out but you have the option of putting your name on the wait list in case any tickets become available last minute.
