“Voz de la guitarra mia…” Five words that bring out the Mexican in every daughter, son, and descendant of this nostalgic nation.

This iconic video for “Mexico Lindo y Querido,” created in 2012 by Playing for Change, never gets old. It features more than 70 musicians, such as Lila Downs, Pepe Aguilar and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan, singing from various breathtaking places across Mexico: Oaxaca, Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, Jalisco, Zacatecas, Nuevo Leon, Sinaloa, and Mexico D.F. And in recognition to the borderless nature of culture and music, the video also incorporates La Marisoul from La Santa Cecilia belting out the iconic tune all the way from historic Placita Olvera in Los Angeles. (Wait for the ska twist at 2:58!)

As the organization explains in its introduction to the video:

“No matter how many things in this life may divide us, they are never as strong as the things that bring us together. This is the power of music.”
