Gozamos » a spotlight on Chicago community and culture

The only parties associated with activism are usually those of the political variety. Not so, when it comes to Chicago hip-hop crew BBU. Marrying the political and social activism of groups like Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine with booty-shaking juke joint beats, group members Michael “Illekt” Milam, Richard “Epic” Wallace and Jasson Perez manage to keep brains working and bodies twerkin’. Their recent collaboration with Das Racist proves yet again that you don’t have to be dumb to have fun. We caught up with them at North Coast Music Festival.
