Gozamos » a spotlight on Chicago community and culture

“Art strives to express; craft strives for excellence. Good art has good craft; good craft is artistic. With every craft, there exists artists. Within every artist, there is craft.”

These are words from Ralph Reichenbach and Doug Madill. I don’t usually start anything with someone else’s quote, but this event is uniquely uniting artists and crafters, so I’ll change up my style, my craft if you will.

Held in conjunction with the Pilsen Art Walk, 50/50 Pilsen is just that. Fifty percent artists and fifty percent crafters. Something for everyone to enjoy while taking in the outstanding event that is the Art Walk. Featuring arts and crafts from Laura Berger, Brett Manning, Kiku Handmade, Corryn Jackson, and the Subversive Seamstress(also an organizer of the event), among others, 50/50 Pilsen has something for the socially conscious consumer and the one who just appreciates fine art. Not that the two aren’t mutual, just sayin’ that everyone shops this way for different reasons. That could be a whole new story in itself, so we’ll focus on the event for now and get to that later…

For now, I’d just like to tell you to attend this wonderful event with the crafters on display the 1st 2nd and 3rd of October, and the Artists’ Exhibition taking place on the 8th. The exhibition will include everything from paintings to sculpture to textiles to, well, everything in between of course! Something for everyone, and that is more than alright with me! See you there, fellow socially aware, art enthusiasts!
